Smile

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  –James 1:5

Some things are hard to understand,
But we can rest with them in His hand.
When we can’t see just where to go,
He guides in ways we don’t even know.
At times like these, His peace He gives,
That we may know in our hearts He lives.
Now rest in Him, don’t be dismayed,
You know your life at His feet is laid,
So smile for me, and do not be afraid.

We each are formed as vessels of
The careful work of our Father’s love.
These earthen jars by grace contain
The treasure of all eternal gain.
We wonder why such fragile ware
The power of God and His glory bear,
But trust in Him for he has made
It sure to stand, His foundation laid.
So smile for me, and do not be afraid.

Sometimes we sink in faith so small
We wonder how God could love us at all.
But on great faith love does not depend.
No matter what, He’ll always be your friend.
But Jesus said, “if you believe,
Ask in My name and you shall receive.”
Let’s bow our heads as Jesus prayed,
And ask of Him, He will not upbraid,
So smile for me, and do not be afraid.
